We started digitising insurance processes in 2001, and a lot has happened since. Below you can learn about our 20+ years journey.

A radically improved customer experience

Scalepoint was founded with a clear goal to digitize the claim process, making it easier and faster to determine the settlement amount and buy replacements – and thereby radically improve the customer experience. This customer-centric focus has been a priority ever since and still is – why we say, “We help insurance companies help their customers”.

Our concept was a success from the get-go, as it automated the processing of simple insurance cases at a high volume and our webshop could consolidate the purchasing power of multiple insurance companies. For the insurance companies this meant an elevated claimant experience and millions in annual savings from lower costs – this still holds true today.

Automating the claim process was a bit of revolution in 2001 (to put it mildly), as the industry was characterized by a lack of innovation and digitization. A heavy case load, manual processes and expensive IT development projects was the reality for the industry. For Scalepoint’s customers that is no longer the case, as they benefit from cloud-based solutions with low implementation and maintenance cost, while still being tailored to their specific needs. Since 2019 this has included all types of claims with ClaimsCORE.

In 2024, we introduced PolicyCORE, extending beyond claims to also offer automation of the policy administration and sales processes. This new solution, combined with our claim’s expertise, brings insurers a full-fledged insurance system that adds automation to the whole insurance process, creating exceptional value for insurers and their customers alike. Scalepoint was founded in 2001

High school buddies Peter Heering and Ulrik Trolle founded Scalepoint in 2001, as they realised the potential of digitising the claims process and started working on a procurement solution, that eventually would become ClaimShop. Already by the end of the first year, Claimshop was used by multiple leading insurance companies in Denmark.


The two founders were part of the day-to-day operations for about the first decade of Scalepoint, and later moved on to become part of our board of directors at different times. Besides being active board members, they are now using their extensive know-how to invest in and help develop tomorrow’s high-growth companies, from their startup studio.


Since 2014 Scalepoint has been managed by Tue Høilund-Carlsen as CEO. Tue was actually hired by Peter and Ulrik at the inception of the company in 2001, and has therefore been a part of Scalepoints history from day one.

Scalepoint expands outside of Denmark

Scalepoint was founded with an ambitious vision that goes beyond the Danish borders. While developing the business concept, the international potential became clear to everyone involved. So in 2003 Scalepoint went beyond the Danish Borders and entered the Swedish market.


Since then, we also have a market presence in Norway, Switzerland and Germany, making us one of the leading providers of SaaS solutions for the insurance industry within the Nordics. As an ambitious company, we are naturally looking to expand our market presence in Europe even further.


Our HQ is based in Copenhagen, but we also have offices in Switzerland and Poland. The latter is where a lot of our development teams (R&D) sits. Spread around these three countries, we are now about 200 passionate insurance geeks with a diverse mix of nationalities.

Why are we called Scalepoint?

Our name is inspired by the term ‘economies of scale’, as this was (and still is) an important pillar of our initial business concept. Combining the buying power of multiple insurance companies means better supplier prices and more favorable terms. This makes it possible to offer claimants an extensive selection of shops with attractive discounts.

Scalepoint is now more than just offering claimants attractive discounts – it's about revolutionizing how insurance companies share the cost of developing and maintaining core systems. By harnessing the power of cloud-based IT solutions, Scalepoint delivers significant scaling benefits, reducing upfront investments, accelerating return on investment, and optimizing overall cost-efficiency for all parties involved.
